Training & Certification Program

Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) Training & Certificate Program

Woodfords Family Services administers the Behavioral Health Professional Training & Certificate Program for the State of Maine.


Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) Training

The BHP Training is required for all staff working with children who are receiving Children’s Behavioral Health Services under MaineCare Sections 28 RCS, 28 RCS Specialized, and 65 HCT programs. To be eligible for BHP certification, individuals must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. (Additional educational requirements must be met to work in 65 HCT.) Staff are required to complete the BHP Module 1 Training within 30 days of hire, and must successfully complete the entire 35-hour BHP Training (Modules 1-12) and meet all additional requirements for BHP certification within 1 year of hire. Additional requirements include current certification in Child and Adult CPR & First Aid and completion of an OSHA compliant Blood-borne Pathogens training. Online only CPR/First Aid is not valid for this requirement.

Online BHP Module 1 Training

The BHP Module 1 Training is available online to DHHS Approved Provider Agency staff at no charge. Certified BHP Instructors and assigned Agency Representatives may register staff for the BHP Module 1 Online Training by signing in to the Secure Portal and completing the electronic Add A Learner ETED form.

Certified BHP Instructors may continue to submit documentation forms from instructor-led classroom trainings via email: bhp@woodfords.org, fax: 1-877-587-6445, or mail to the address below.


School-Based Behavioral Health Professional (SB-BHP) Training

Staff working in a school-based program that is providing services under MaineCare Sections 28 RCS-SB and/or 65 DT are required to complete the SB-BHP Module 1 Training within 30 days of hire, and successfully complete the entire 28-hour SB-BHP Training (Modules 1 – 7) within 1 year of hire. To be eligible for SB-BHP certification, individuals must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. (Additional educational requirements must be met to work in 65 DT.)

Online SB-BHP Module 1 Training

Effective 8/1/16, Woodfords is accepting registrations for the Online SB-BHP Module 1 Training. The SB-BHP Module 1 Training is now available online to school staff working in MaineCare Sections 28 RCS-SB or 65 DT at no charge. Certified SB-BHP Instructors and assigned Agency Representatives may register staff for the Online Training by signing in to the Secure Portal and completing the electronic Add A Learner ETED form.

Certified SB-BHP Instructors and Module 1 Administrators may continue to submit documentation forms from live trainings to the attention of the BHP Program via email: bhp@woodfords.org, fax: 1-877-587-6445, or mail to the address below.
