Woodfords Family Services provides treatment level foster care to children and youth from age 0-21 with developmental disabilities who cannot reside with their biological family. Our program focuses on the strengths of the child/youth and family. Our philosophy supports family inclusion whenever possible. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to live in a loving home and family. Through the support of our trained, professional foster parents and the treatment team, children/youth are offered guidance with psychological, emotional, social, behavioral and learning issues. The team's primary goal is meeting the best interest of the child/youth while promoting family reunification and life skills growth. Woodfords Family Services offers case management, support and training to our foster families in a team approach to preserve placements. Our foster families provide support to each other through monthly Parent Support Group meetings and by exchanging respite services. Woodfords Foster Care Program provides support to Woodfords Foster parents through training, home visits, support groups and securing services in collaboration with multiple agencies. Foster Care is available through the Department of Human Services, to children birth to 21 that have been diagnosed with developmental disabilities. Children are referred to Woodfords Foster Care program from the Department of Human Services. The admissions committee reviews referrals from the Department of Human services to determine if the child meets specific developmental delay criteria. The availability of openings in our foster homes is also considered when reviewing referrals. Should there be an available foster home and a child meets Woodfords placement criteria, Woodfords Foster Care case managers attempt to match the child with the most appropriate available foster home for placement. Once a child has been placed with a Woodfords Family Services foster home, he or she is provided a foster care case manager. Case managers meet regularly with the child and foster parents to establish an individual service plan for the child. The service plan strives to address the individual needs of each child and his or her family, as well as outlining appropriate services to address those needs. Woodfords Foster Care case managers provide ongoing support to foster parents and the children placed with them, while promoting a loving, family atmosphere.
