In-Home Support has been a part of Woodfords Family Services since 1998. The program is designed to support children in becoming active participants in both family and community life. Services focus on enhancing their skills through their daily living, self-help, self-care, behavior management, communication and socialization. Specific goals and objectives are used to increase the child's overall level of daily functioning while decreasing maladaptive behaviors. In-Home Support is contracted with Woodfords Family Services through the Maine Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services (DBDS) and is funded by Medicaid. Eligible children are birth to age 20 who have a diagnosis of Autism or Mental Retardation.
In-Home Support is available through Woodfords Family Services in eight counties. Region I includes Cumberland and York County.Region II includes Androscoggin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, and Sagadahoc. In-Home Support assists children in building skills in the areas of behavior management, activities of daily living, self-help, self care, and socialization. Individual plans are developed with each family, focusing on specific goals and objectives for the child. The family is part of a team approach in the development and monitoring of these goals and objectives. The active participation of the family is essential in building a strong foundation for the child. The In-Home Support Program provides services to children who have Autism and Mental Retardation.
