Woodfords Family Services

Woodfords Family Services
Residential Programs

Woodfords Family Services provides services to adults ages 18 and over with developmental disabilities using the shared living model. This approach provides support to the individual in a natural, family environment. As some individuals may thrive in more personalized settings, this option is an alternative to group home living. The goal is to match the individual with an appropriate family with similar interests to provide a stable support system and assist the individual in reaching their full potential. Our program is strengths-based and tailored to the specific needs of the individual.

We believe in close collaboration with team members to ensure that quality services are being provided and that the best interests of the individual are being served. Team members include the individual, the individual's guardian (if applicable), the direct support provider, the DBDS Individual Support Coordinator, the Woodfords Shared Living Specialist, and other members who are involved in the individual's life. Through the support of our trained providers and team members, individuals are offered assistance in the areas of education, employment, recreation, family inclusion, health/mental health and independent living skills. We are committed to providing individuals with inclusion into their community and support this philosophy in the services that we provide.

W.I.L.O.

W.I.L.O. is an acronym that stands for Woodfords Individualized Living Options. Woodfords Family Services has provided quality services for people with special needs, and their families, since 1967. Our mission statement is as follows "To establish a partnership between children and adults with disabilities and their families to enhance and expand their lives to the fullest of their potential." Our vision statement is "To see that children and adults with disabilities find full acceptance and productive roles in their families and communities." We strive toward these goals on a daily basis through the hard work and dedication of our staff and with the strong support of the residents.

Over the years, we have listened and worked closely with our consumers, their families, guardians and advocates. As a result we can offer living options tailored to the specific needs of each individual. We also rely on the continued support from families and friends while the consumer is transitioning into their home and throughout their stay with Woodfords Family Services. We understand that people don't just need a place to live, but they need a home and natural supports.

Residential Placement Outside the Home

W.I.L.O offers residential settings designed to serve as an extension of the family. We provide around-the clock staffing. Our staff is well trained in the needs of the consumers for whom we provide services and play an important role in enriching their lives on a daily basis. Another essential part in developing a placement for a loved one outside the families home is the continued participation of family and friends in the lives of the consumer.

Families are an ongoing part of the quality control and function as overseers in the agency's quality enhancement program. Visits are welcome any time.

Transitional Living

W.I.L.O. also offers residential settings for individuals who need help going from a structured facility to a home where they can work on specific skills so they may be able to live on their own with out supports. Staff will help in the areas of budgeting, cooking, grocery shopping and anything an individual may need in order to become independent.
