Foster Parenting
Become a Foster Parent 
Woodfords Family Services Therapeutic Foster Care Program provides foster care homes to meet the needs of children with special needs that are unable to live at home and are in custody of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).  

Our foster homes provide daily living experiences with specialized services that meet the child’s needs including: daily living, education, mental/ physical health, and community inclusion support.

Qualifications of Foster Parents
  • May be married or single
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be in good physical and mental health
  • Must enjoy working with children
  • Possess effective parenting skills
  • Be creative and flexible
  • Possess a willingness to work with birth parents, service providers and service agencies
  • Must be committed and enjoy challenges
  • Must successfully complete introductory training
  • Have at least one year experience as family foster home parent or six months work
  • Experience with children and/or youth who have moderate to severe disabilities
  • Must possess a willingness to grow as a parent and as an individual
